Thermal Bridging – Why the Energy Miser® System Makes the Difference
The Energy Miser® System is set apart from other insulation systems by the lower layer of fiberglass blanket insulation laminated to a vapor retarder that is installed below the purlins and/or structural steel. This encapsulates the bottom of the purlins and eliminates much of the impact of thermal bridging that occurs in a structure.
Thermal images shown below highlight a building with 3" standard over-the-purlin insulation on the left and a 3” Energy Miser System added below the purlins on the right. Note that the Energy Miser System eliminates the glowing from the structural steel and lowers the interior temperature of the building by over 20 degrees. Thermal images can also be provided to show the superior thermal performance of the Energy Miser System compared to other systems that fill the purlin cavity with insulation.
